30.04.2006 Un turbador autorretrato al óleo sobre lienzo de George Romney (1734-1802) expuesto en el National Portrait Gallery de Londres me inspiró esta obra en el que el boceto se funde con el hiperrealismo de los rasgos más significativos del rostro de esta bella modelo.

28.04.2006 El Castillo de Almodovar es una fortaleza de origen íbero y posteriormente castro romano, edificado por los árabes en el año 760. Sometido a sucesivas reconstrucciones, la más importante en el año 1.902 llevada a cabo por el “Conde de Torralva“.
El castillo se encuentra en Almodovar del Río a 27,4 Km de Córdoba capital. Un lugar que recomiendo a todos los visitantes a mi ciudad.
Almodover Castle is a fortress of
Iberian origin and subsequently a
Roman encampment. It was built by the
Moors in the year
760 and since then has been subject to many reconstructions the most important of which was carried out by the
Count of Torralva in
1902.
The castle can be found in Almodover del Rio which is situated 27.4 km from the city of Córdoba. I can recommend it to all visitors to my city.

28.04.2006 Hace unos días se generó una gran polémica con una propuesta de ley que presentó un grupo político español. La finalidad era otorgar derechos humanos a los primates … luego se aclaró que de lo que se trataba era de dictar una ley que no permitiera degradar a nuestros parientes lejanos.
Existe un movimiento en contra de los zoológicos y es razonable. Durante mucho tiempo han sido recintos donde hacinaban a los animales tras unas tétricas rejas.
Gracias a Dios, esto va cambiando. Aunque en la mayoría de los casos para los animales vivir en libertad es la mejor opción, estos establecimientos cumplen con una función divulgadora e investigadora de indudable valor. No olvidemos que especies que están en vías de extinción se están recuperando gracias a la fecundación asistida en algunos zoológicos.
Os presento un orangután del cuidado zoológico de Fuengirola (Málaga) en el que pasé un bonito día la pasada Semana Santa.
Some days ago a Spanish political group proposed a law which generated much controversy. The aim was to grant human rights to primates… later it was clarified that in fact what it proposed was to enact a law which would not allow any degrading treatment of our distant relatives.
A movement exists which is against the existence of zoos and this is understandable. For a long time they have been places where animals were crammed into enclosed cells and kept behind bars.
Fortunately this is changing. Although in the majority of cases life in the wild is the best option, zoos fulfil an important teaching and investigative function of unquestionable value. Let’s not forget that many endangered species are recovering thanks to the help they receive in some zoos.
Here I present an orang-utan from the well cared for zoo of Fuengirola (Málaga – Spain -) in which I spent a lovely day this last Easter.
Para sacar fotografías en zoológicos tendremos que hacer uso de teleobjetivo y puesto que no debemos usar flash, para no molestar a los animales, tendremos que utilizar sensibilidades superiores al ISO 100.
To take shots in zoos we need to make use of a zoom lens and as we should not use flash, so as not to annoy the animals, we should use sensitivities higher than ISO 100.

28.04.2006 Tomando el sol, tumbado sobre la arena de la playa… buscaba un encuadre que me llenara. Pensé que sería interesante realizar un Retrato de mi pie izquierdo con el mar de fondo, como si de un rostro se tratara.
En este caso, pensé que el pie debería estar centrado.
Whilst sunbathing, lying on the sandy beach… I looked for a frame that I liked. I thought it would be interesting to take a portrait of my left foot, as if it were a face, with the sea in the background.
In this particular case I thought that the foot should be central in the frame.
Durante el postprocesado apliqué una desaturación selectiva en forma de bandas sobre el pie y un TLR E6-C41 (Sepia).
During post processing I applied a selective desaturation in the shape of stripes over the foot and a
TLR E6-C41 (Sepia) effect.

La fotografía original fue obtenida en estudio, con tres flashes: uno para el fondo blanco y dos a 45º de la modelo.

26.04.2006 Antiguamente se celebraban festejos taurinos en las plazas de las ciudades y pueblos. En Córdoba se celebraban en la Plaza de la Corredera y los toros desde los chiqueros salían a esta plaza por la estrecha Calleja Toril pasando bajo este arco.
La fotografía es el resultado de la aplicación de un HDR (High Daynamic Range). A partir de 2 exposiciones distintas, una para exponer correctamente el fondo y otra para los primeros planos se puede generar la combinación de las dos por medio de aplicaciones informáticas como:
Formerly bullfighting celebrations were held in the squares of Spanish cities and villages. In
Córdoba they were celebrated in the
Corredera Square and the bulls after leaving their pens entered the square through the narrow street called
Calleja Toril passing underneath this archway.
The photograph is the result of the application of an HDR (High Dynamic Range) effect. 2 different shots were taken, one to expose correctly the background and the other correctly the foreground. The combination of both can be generated using applications such as:
En este caso lo lleve a cabo “a mano” copiando una imagen sobre otra y borrando las zonas subexpuestas de la capa superior.
In this case I carried out the process “by hand” copying one image onto the other and eliminating the underexposed areas from the top layer.

26.04.2006 La fotografía original tenía un cielo desprovisto de nubes, por lo que decidí añadirlas por medio de la magia del retoque digital.
The original photograph had a sky somewhat lacking in clouds and so I decided to add them with help from the magic of digital retouching.

25.04.2006 Nuestro amigo Rafael Luque nos envía un par de estupendas fotografías de cerraduras antiguas. Las texturas de la madera y los remaches hacen de estas fotografías una gozada para los amantes de este arte.
La realizó en el casco histórico de Córdoba con su HP PhotoSmart 735.

He took the photographs in the historic area of Córdoba with his HP PhotoSmart 735.
En las dos tomas realizó un encuadre descentrando a las protagonistas buscando el cumplimiento de la Regla de los Tercios y evitando el Ojo de Buey.
In both shots he framed the subjects off-centre so complying with the Rule of Thirds and avoiding the Bull’s-Eye Effect.

Para publicarlas les apliqué una máscara de enfoque y un ajuste de tono y saturación.
